A Black Collage

In the book A Black Collage, Rob Perrée tells the story of his involvement in African-American art from 1990 to 2020. Perrée does so by means of a chronological collage of newly written texts and linking texts and articles that have been published earlier. Together, they show the development of African-American art and demonstrate how its appreciation and perception has changed over time, in the US, but above all in the Netherlands and among the public and cultural institutions.

The book consist out of two volumes, an English version and a Dutch version. The chronological book has clear dividers per year and the diverse type of texts dynamically unfold in each chapter that invites you to keep reading. The cover text is printed in black on black paper to emphasise the topic and at the same time to stay subtle and complement the contrasting typography on the inside.
