Emerging Ecologies

Published to accompany the first expansive survey of the history of environmental thinking in architecture, Emerging Ecologies: Architecture and the Rise of Environmentalism studies the role architects have played in defining our understanding of “nature” and the “environment,” specifically during the emergence of the environmental movement in the 60’s.

The concept of the book was to make a field guide that is inspired by The Whole Earth Catalog, which origin is in the same era as the architectural ideas. Typographic choices and the navigation of the book are based on the structure of a field guide. The names of the architects and researchers are placed on the top of each page and organised alphabetically so the reader can easily find the content.
