An Exceptional Post Office

A 2020 exhibition in ‘Museum Het Schip’ highlighted the treasure of this collection: the post office building by Michel de Klerk. The post office is an important historical monument; it is the only original post office from the 1920s in the Netherlands that is still in existence–built in a time when the Dutch governmental institutions paid a great deal of attention to innovative design. The concept for the exhibition design is to bring back the energy and culture of the post office by placing lecterns in five different clusters with stories on them–from the early 1920s to the 1980s, to drawings of product design and stamps. The typography is reference to the era of Art Nouveau.
