Felwa

The photo-book Felwa is a chronicle of transitions that explore an essential paradox of nature, namely that change is the only constant. The book is composed like rings of an onion — a personal photographic diary about Arja’s parents’ farm in the middle — and around the different layers of the work of artists Arja Hop and Peter Svenson. The book is mirrored, the book starts in a similar way as it ends. The publication is a rhythmic composition of different facets of nature amongst six chapters. Each story has been translated into its own layout, paper and printing technique. The common thread is the plant world in its most abstract form, by means of the remains of vegetable dye, Florachromes. This results in color areas with different color tones and nuances. A perforation hole on the outside of the book, like their photo negatives, makes it into an object.
